Reading ecosystem matters more than a spec sheet
Kindle is tightly linked to Amazon’s bookstore, Kobo gives shoppers another established ebook ecosystem, and Android e-paper devices can open access to more apps. Think about where your books already live before changing platform.
Colour e-ink is useful but different from a tablet
Colour e-paper is attractive for covers, comics, highlights and diagrams, but it is designed for reading comfort and battery efficiency rather than the saturated motion graphics of an LCD or OLED tablet.
Writing devices are a separate decision
A large e-paper notebook can replace paper for some people, but pen feel, document workflow, cloud integration and export options are more important than simply having stylus support.
Size changes how often you carry it
Seven-inch readers are easy to travel with; larger notebooks are better for PDFs and handwriting but become bag devices. Pick the size you will actually use every day.
